Styling map objects using attributes

You can change the appearance of map objects based on attributes, such as colours and icons.

In Iventis, attributes provide a straightforward way to classify and colour-code your data. This simplifies your workflow, allowing you to achieve the same results within a single layer, eliminating the need for multiple layers.

By using attributes, you can efficiently organise and visually differentiate your information, making it easier to work with. This approach saves time and enhances the clarity of your data.

Creating a list attribute

To create a list attribute, you can either click on " + Add Attribute " within the "Object Details panel, or within the "Layer Settings".

Choose "Custom Attribute" and "List" from the available attribute types.

Click on "list" and then "Continue". Provide a name for your list, such as Zone Type or Vehicle Type. Then add the appropriate list options and click "Add attribute".

Styling and adding a list attribute

In order to change a style (such as colour) based on the attribute selected, find the style property you'd like to be determined by the attribute.

Click the "Set using attributes" button under the style property. If you have multiple attributes, you'll be able to select which list of attribute you'd like to use and once selected, you'll then have the choice to choose your colours. Once you are happy, press "Confirm", and then "Save" to add it to your plan.

You now have the layer added to your plan. Simply draw your layer using the drawing toolbar at the top right of the screen. Once you have drawn your data, you then categorise it by choosing the category you have created at the bottom left of the screen, within the object details panel.

Editing a list attribute

If you'd like to change any of the colours, or add new categories, simply go back into the layer settings and click the attribute you have created to change the contents, or click the "Edit" button again to go back to the layer styling, and customise again.
