What does the "Model Offset" setting do?

Managing the position of the first node in a line of 3D models

The Model Offset setting controls where the first node is positioned on a 3D model when it’s placed in a line.

By default, the node is positioned at the centre of the model. While this is convenient for placing individual models, it can make it difficult to accurately calculate the total number of models in a line.

To align the node with the start (origin point) of the model instead, calculate half the width of the model and enter that value into the Model Offset field in the layer settings.

In the example below, a Heras fencing panel is 3.49 m wide.
To align the node at the start of the panel, enter 1.745 m (half the width) into the Model Offset field.

Layer settings

The first node is now positioned at the start of the 3D model rather than at its centre. This adjustment makes it easier to create accurate corners and angles when drawing a continuous line of models.
